Passive skills & investment priorities

Max these passives first — in this order

For Dungeon, put your passive upgrade points into the priority skills below. Max the first one, then the next, until this list is complete. Do not spread points across optional passives first.

  1. Warding Shield — max Base Lv. 10
  2. Ironclad Defense — max Base Lv. 10
  3. Enhanced Health — max Base Lv. 10
  4. Fury — max Base Lv. 10

Warding Shield

1. Max first · Base Lv. 10

Increases block and heals after a successful block.

Supports tanking sustain; its value depends on actually blocking attacks.

Ironclad Defense

2. Max first · Base Lv. 10

Increases defense and endurance.

Improve for progression tanking instead of copying a damage-only farming allocation.

Enhanced Health

3. Max first · Base Lv. 10

Increases maximum HP and received healing.

A reliable survival investment when the healer cannot keep up with incoming damage.

Fury

4. Max first · Base Lv. 10

Increases frontal damage; successful blocks increase party damage amplification.

A core party contribution. Its corresponding party buff overlaps Gladiator Experienced Counter.

Optional passives — after your priorities

Keep these at their initial rank while completing the priority list. Invest leftover points only when their effect helps your build or encounter.

Punishing Benediction

Optional · upgrade after the priority list

Increases critical; landing attacks grants a chance-based extra-damage effect.

A main offensive passive for repeated attacks and Judgment windows.

Guarding Seal

Optional · upgrade after the priority list

At low health, creates a maximum-HP-based shield with a retrigger limit.

A safety net, not a reason to delay your active mitigation.

Impact Hit

Optional · upgrade after the priority list

Increases impact-type hit and a bonus-strike stat.

A later offensive/control investment once the tanking core is secure.

Assault Roar

Optional · upgrade after the priority list

Increases enmity amplification and grants attack after frontal hits.

Supports threat generation in the normal tanking position.

Survival Willpower

Optional · upgrade after the priority list

Increases status resistance and grants conditional tolerance/resistance after control effects.

Useful against control-heavy enemies; does not replace Shock Release timing.

Block Pain

Optional · upgrade after the priority list

Taking attacks builds stacks; reaching the threshold grants damage tolerance.

Passive mitigation while under pressure. The current Korean description uses stacks, not a universal first-hit cooldown.

GLOBAL EU · Tank

Templar consumables

Plan survival before the pull. Prepare personal recovery and a finite shield for known damage windows; keep damage buffs for the time you can attack safely.

Role recommendations are editorial. Item effects come from NC’s Global EU records, checked 30 September 2026; the rest of this class guide keeps its own region scope.

Before attacking

Power Shard (Bound)

Activate for attack windows; ordinary shards are the budget starting point.

Timed combat buff

Courage Scroll (Bound)

Check the five-minute timer before a serious pull.

Food choice

White Dragon's Chopped Steak

An Elyos survival-oriented meal for progression. Consider it when personal durability is the limiting factor instead of choosing damage food automatically.

Role priority

Absorption Scroll (Bound)

Use before predictable incoming damage. The per-hit limit and total absorption cap are different limits; this is a finite shield, not immunity.

Personal emergency

Life Crystal (Bound)

Check the level requirement. Keep instant recovery reachable; avoid overhealing.

The listed Chopped Steak is Elyos-only. For another faction, choose a usable survival meal from your own supplies; Roasted Fogus is an all-faction offensive alternative, not an identical defensive replacement.

Battle Enhance Scroll (Bound) is an optional damage-and-survival addition for serious attempts. Superior Healing Potion is a personal cleanse for eligible effects, not an HP heal.

Quick start: role, strengths and tradeoffs

Build recommendation

Templar combines threat control and party protection with a Judgment-driven damage loop. A tank build must retain answers to the encounter, while a solo farming preset can devote more slots to damage.

TopicPractical meaning
StrengthReliable tank role with block, threat, shields and conditional damage follow-ups.
TradeoffPoor cooldown sequencing wastes Judgment windows; mindless damage macros can spend a defensive tool before a mechanic.
Party contributionTaunt, planned protection and Fury. Coordinate Fury with Gladiator Experienced Counter rather than assuming both stack.

Choose a four-slot PvE Stigma loadout

Build recommendation

Equip one row, not every listed Stigma simultaneously. These are editorial presets derived from the mechanics and reviewed builds; change the flex slot for an actual encounter requirement.

PresetFour StigmasWhen to use it
Group tank baselineTaunt; Doom Shield; Battlefield Banner; Nezekan's ShieldThreat, Judgment support, damage conversion and a party defensive answer.
Heavy group pressureTaunt; Doom Shield; Nezekan's Shield; Shield of ProtectionTrade Banner damage for an additional defensive answer. Comrade in Arms is a mechanic-specific alternative.
Comfortable solo farmDoom Shield; Battlefield Banner; Noble Armor; Empyrean Lord's PunishmentDamage/sustain preset; restore Taunt and group protection before returning to the tank role.

Before the pull

Build recommendation

Check your preset, resource bar, selected specialties and party assignments before starting. A developed rotation only works when its rank-dependent effects are actually equipped.

  1. Confirm the party role and required survival or control tool.
  2. Confirm your main skill-rank thresholds in the skill screen after changing gear.
  3. Use the appropriate consumable and position for both damage and party support.
  4. Identify the first dangerous mechanic and reserve the skill that answers it.

Evidence: NC · official Templar skills ↗ · aLuckyRO · 2026-09-05 ↗

Opening rotation: step by step

Build recommendation

Use this as a decision sequence. Skip unavailable conditional skills and interrupt for mechanics; do not stand idle waiting for the entire opener to return.

  1. Stand where the boss should face and establish threat with Taunt when required.
  2. Activate the selected sustained buff or Battlefield Banner before your safe burst window.
  3. Fully charge Punishment if the opening is safe, then use a Judgment trigger such as Shield Smite.
  4. Consume Judgment before spending another trigger; weave Vicious Strike and Pummel between windows. Keep a defensive answer available for the first tank mechanic.

Evidence: NC · official Templar skills ↗ · aLuckyRO · 2026-09-05 ↗ · NoBS Game Guides · 2026-09-27 ↗ · KaidGames2 · 2026-09-28 ↗

Single-target priority and resource loop

Build recommendation

The next correct action depends on buffs, target state, resources and the upcoming mechanic.

PriorityActionExecution
1Tank mechanicThreat, facing, block and group protection override damage.
2JudgmentConsume the activation before overwriting it with another trigger.
3Shield Smite / Warding Strike / Doom ShieldStagger trigger use while the current build still has meaningful Judgment cooldown windows.
4PunishmentFull charge during safety; do not stand in a lethal attack to finish it.
5Pummel / Vicious StrikeSpender and MP builder; Annihilate has specific target-condition value.

Skill progression and specialty milestones

Build recommendation

Total skill level includes bonus ranks. Mastery Specialty slots open at total levels 8, 12 and 20: one, two and three slots respectively. All five options are available at total 16, but only two can be selected until total 20. Stigma milestones are separate and must be read on the specific skill.

PummelEarly specialtyMP reduction with stable healing; HP absorption for solo sustain.
PunishmentEarly specialtyFaster charge to fit safe boss windows.
Judgment / Pummel / PunishmentDeveloped total ranks 16–20Reach the useful option/slot on each skill; do not mistake this for spending 20 basic points.

Passive skills: what earns its points

Build recommendation

Fury and Punishing Benediction support damage; Assault Roar rewards safe frontal positioning. Ironclad Defense and Enhanced Health are meaningful progression tools. Do not discard defensive passives simply because a geared creator can farm without them. Read Block Pain as the current official stacking/tolerance effect rather than replacing it with an unverified old cooldown claim.

Evidence: NC · official Templar skills ↗ · aLuckyRO · 2026-09-05 ↗ · NoBS Game Guides · 2026-09-27 ↗ · KaidGames2 · 2026-09-28 ↗

Packs, area damage and farming

Build recommendation

Gather enemies into party damage areas and face them away from allies. Use Poach where the pull is permitted and Warding Strike or a selected defensive effect for the incoming pack damage. Keep Judgment windows distinct. A movement or control skill that fails against an immune boss can still be useful on ordinary adds.

Evidence: NC · official Templar skills ↗ · aLuckyRO · 2026-09-05 ↗ · NoBS Game Guides · 2026-09-27 ↗ · KaidGames2 · 2026-09-28 ↗

Group mechanics, survival and utility

Build recommendation

Before a pull, agree on the tank position and when party mitigation is needed. Hold Taunt for threat requirements, keep Warding Strike and major shields timed around damage, and avoid rotating the boss through the party. Comrade in Arms and other specialized protection belong to a planned mechanic assignment. Shock Release remains manual.

Evidence: NC · official Templar skills ↗ · aLuckyRO · 2026-09-05 ↗ · NoBS Game Guides · 2026-09-27 ↗ · KaidGames2 · 2026-09-28 ↗

Daevanion: route priorities

Build recommendation

Prioritize enough accuracy to connect your attacks and threat, then the core active ranks. Take offensive paths for comfortable farming; retain tolerance and relevant defense for a progression static. Compare full connected paths and avoid spending scarce points on distant resistance nodes with no relevant mechanic. The goal is a functional tank, not merely a higher paper damage number.

Select the destination, inspect all prerequisite nodes and compare the total cost. A nearby useful passive can make a slightly different route better than the shortest route through irrelevant bonuses. Save the preset before testing a different role.

Evidence: NC · Daevanion ↗ · NC · official Templar skills ↗ · aLuckyRO · 2026-09-05 ↗

Bonus skill ranks: board, accessories and Arcana

Build recommendation

Use Judgment, Pummel and Punishment as the main active-rank budget. The reviewed gear guide targets Judgment on parchment, Pummel/Punishment on chalice and Pummel on compass where those rolls are available. Fury is a useful passive rank. Check the resulting total in the skill screen before rerolling another piece.

Evidence: NC · official Templar skills ↗ · aLuckyRO · 2026-09-05 ↗ · NoBS Game Guides · 2026-09-27 ↗ · KaidGames2 · 2026-09-28 ↗

Gear and stat decisions

Build recommendation

A tank needs attacks to connect and enough effective health for the actual hit. Compare might/precision, combat speed, damage boost, accuracy and critical for farm damage; shoulder critical damage and glove speed are source-build targets. Preserve shield/HP/defensive value where it changes survival. A damage-only preset should not silently replace the progression tank preset.

Compare the same encounter and buff conditions. Accuracy is a requirement against the actual target, not one universal number. A rank threshold, a survivable hit or a sustainable resource loop can be worth more than a small increase in displayed combat power.

Evidence: NC · official Templar skills ↗ · aLuckyRO · 2026-09-05 ↗ · NoBS Game Guides · 2026-09-27 ↗ · KaidGames2 · 2026-09-28 ↗

Prioritize the Judgment/Pummel/Punishment rank plan and Fury rather than chasing an unsupported universal set ratio. Swap one Arcana at a time and verify the resulting skill specialties; a set bonus can be a loss if it removes the third specialty slot from the main attack.

In-game macro and manual controls

Build recommendation

Use the built-in macro only for the repeatable damage portion you have tested. Keep control breaks, important defensives, group healing, charged casts and unsafe movement deliberate. Start with basic-attack/spender resource weaving, then add one priority at a time. Verify that attacks actually fire and the resource bar stays stable. Creator delay values depend on speed, latency and input settings; copy the logic before the timing.

Common mistakes and source disagreements

Build recommendation

Do not stack every Judgment trigger while an earlier activation is unused. Do not describe Taunt as a personal tolerance buff: its official text includes enemy debuffs. Noble Armor is an HP/recovery effect, not an all-stat buff. Nezekan's Shield is a party shield in the current official list.

Upgrade order and a useful practice check

Build recommendation

Spend to remove the current bottleneck, then retest under comparable conditions.

  1. Make the four-slot loadout functional and equip the useful early specialties.
  2. Complete the main bonus-rank threshold through the cheapest available combination of board and equipment.
  3. Address misses, resource failure or deaths before chasing a marginal damage reroll.
  4. Practice a full sustained window, then a moving/interrupting window; track missed procs and expired buffs.
  5. Reassess the flex slot for the next dungeon rather than copying a fixed preset everywhere.
