Enhancement, Amp and Potential: spend in the right place

Separate ordinary enhancement, Amplified Enhance and PvP Potential before committing Kina and upgrade materials.

By AION2 Codex · Reviewed · Global-focused, source-scoped guidance

Quick answer

Use ordinary enhancement for an affordable improvement first. Treat Amp as a later investment and inspect Potential for its PvP purpose. Decide how long you will keep the item before paying for extra systems.

Your next three steps

  1. Confirm the item grade and enhancement ceiling.
  2. Read the current success chance and material cost.
  3. Compare the upgrade with a replacement and its transfer preview.

Ordinary enhancement

The reviewed Global client reference lists Rare +5, Epic +10 and Unique +15. Eligible ordinary steps through +10 succeed; higher steps can fail. Ordinary failure consumes the attempt materials without destroying the item or removing a level. Runes are a separate exception.

  • Do not interpret an average cost as a maximum budget.
  • After a failure, read the new chance before deciding to continue.
  • An affordable +10 on a temporary drop can be preferable to chasing +15 immediately; this is an editorial spending guideline.

Amplified Enhance

Amp follows +15 on eligible Unique equipment. Its available stages depend on the item; crafted variants can differ. It uses Amplify Stones and Kina, and the reference reports no item destruction or stage loss on failure. Do not assume every Unique piece supports five stages.

Potential

Global client research describes Potential as PvP Damage Boost or PvP Damage Tolerance, reaching 2% over four steps. It uses Abyss resources and is not carried by Transfer. For a PvE-only purchase, check whether those resources solve any immediate need.

Client-reference rules are not measurements of your current item. Rune enhancement differs. Our gear comparison does not simulate enhancement or Amp.
