Pets, mounts and Genus: collect, then improve
Understand pet souls, collection benefits, Genus Insight and the extra cost of locking lines.
By AION2 Codex · Reviewed · Global-focused, source-scoped guidance
Quick answer
Pet collection and Genus rerolling are related but different investments. Build the collection, understand Insight, and inspect the total cost before locking a line.
Your next three steps
- Check the souls required by the pet you want.
- Inspect its collection benefit and corresponding Genus board.
- Keep a usable preset before spending on better Genus lines.
Pets and mounts
The Global reference describes pets as mount choices too. Monster pets use souls; it lists five souls to unlock one, then 25 and 75 for the next levels, with level 3 as the launch cap. Different monsters may supply the same pet’s soul.
Genus is a separate screen
The five boards are Cogni, Fera, Natura, Varian and Special. Insight progression unlocks more line slots and higher-quality possibilities. Analyze rerolls unlocked, unprotected lines; it does not simply add one new line.
- Inspect the highlighted lines that will change.
- Use a separate preset for experiments when available.
- Read the full crystal and Kina cost after adding a lock.
Avoid an expensive early lock
The reference reports escalating costs when lines are locked. Our recommendation is to compare the value of keeping one early roll against opening more slots through Insight. Stop when a preset serves your current build; a perfect board is not a prerequisite for learning a dungeon.
